We recently had a snow weekend.  That's right.  It wasn't just a snow day.  It was a snow weekend.  That's how we do things up here in Minnesota.  Go big or go home.

If you live up in the tundra like we do, you eventually come to realize that it can actually be too cold to snow.  Yep.  If the sun is shining and it looks like a beautiful winter day, it's probably frigging cold outside.  This leads me to our recent snow weekend.  Our near-zero temps increased just long enough for Mother Nature to dump 10 inches of snow on us.  Then the thermometer plummeted to -20 and hung out there for the weekend.  Like I said, we had a snow weekend.

In an effort to keep the munchkins entertained and away from the TV for at least part of our indoor time, I decided we could make Christmas tree Rice Krispie treats.

We just made the Rice Krispie treats according to the package directions.  Before we stirred in the cereal, I added some green food coloring to the marshmallow mixture. Then I let my two favorite kitchen helpers decorate with sprinkles.

After the rice krispie treats have cooled, you can cut them into triangles with a sharp knife (grown ups only on this one, please!)
